Mercy Health Glass City Marathon was the 2023 Road Runners Club of America National Championship Event — a series to celebrate and shine a spotlight on well-run, community-focused events and to award their top performing runners. RRCA champions the development of community-based running clubs and events that serve runners of all ages and abilities in pursuit of health and competition. As the 4th largest city in Ohio, Toledo is conveniently located in the northwest corner of the state. GCM is held in Toledo, Ohio — but why is it called the Glass City Marathon? GCM is so called because the City of Toledo’s nickname is the Glass City. Toledo took on this nickname long ago because of its storied history and influential role in the American glass industry. As the 4th largest city in Ohio, Toledo is conveniently located in the northwest corner of the state.

Refunds & Changes
There are NO refunds or deferments of entry fees. You may transfer your bib to another event as long as the field is not full, or to another runner.
A Glass City Perk
You’ll receive a commemorative mug at the Glass Bowl. That mug is made by Libbey Glass. Where is Libbey Glass headquartered? Toledo, Ohio. Likewise, glass industry giants like Owens-Illinois, Owens Corning, Pilkington North America (formerly LibbeyOwens Ford), and Therma-Tru are based in Toledo and have long been central to Toledo’s economy and the worldwide glass industry.
Zero-Tolerance Policy
The Toledo RoadRunners Club has a zero-tolerance policy regarding the use of performance enhancing drugs (PEDS). Any athlete who has been determined to have violated anti-doping rules or policies and is currently serving suspension, whether enforced by the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF), the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), or any other national sports federation is ineligible to compete for any prizes associated with events sponsored by the Toledo RoadRunners Club. The Toledo RoadRunners Club reserves the right to conduct pre and post-competition testing for any and all performance enhancing drugs (PEDS) listed on the current WADA Prohibited List. Any athlete who refuses to submit to anti-doping controls, if selected for testing, shall be disqualified and subject to a lifetime ban from any Toledo RoadRunners event.
