MERCY HEALTH GLASS CITY MARATHON TO BE HONORED WITH ADDITIONAL NATIONAL RECOGNITION
Toledo, Ohio — February 3, 2022: The Mercy Health Glass City Marathon will be recognized as the Road Race of the Year by Roadrunners Club of America at the RRCA National Running Awards Breakfast and Ceremony in Orlando, Florida.
Since 1971, the RRCA has honored the service and dedication of outstanding leaders in the running community. These individuals and organizations have made significant contributions to the sport by overseeing a return to in-person events, keeping runners engaged and motivated, and by having outstanding individual performances in races.
“Mercy Health Glass City Marathon is the lifeblood of our club and we’re honored to have it recognized in this way,” says Tim Carney, president, Toledo Roadrunners Club. “2021 was the culmination of twelve years of growth and relationship-building with city leaders and sponsors that allowed the event to take place. It was the first major marathon event to occur in 2021, while most others were postponed, canceled or switched to be virtual. Clint McCormick, our Race Director, who was awarded the Road Race Management 2021 Race Director of the Year for his leadership of the event, will also receive an award on behalf of the Mercy Health Glass City Marathon on March 19 at the RRCA National Convention,” he added.
RRCA National Running Award recipients will be celebrated on March 19, 2022.
